Estate planning consultation

Reflection and consideration of how to best convey your financial wealth may be the most important gift you can leave to your heirs. Through interviews, discussion, and/or family meetings I help you explore the reasons for and goals of the legacy you will leave behind.

inheritors & Beneficiaries

Growing up in an affluent family can provide privileges and opportunities but poses unique challenges that can rob people of experiences that contribute to a healthy and resilient self-concept. I provide coaching and instruction tailored to meet the unique challenges and emotional needs of inheritors and trust beneficiaries.

What’s Your Money Story?

The strengths and weaknesses of how we currently approach money are often based on experiences and messages received in our youth. Usually subconscious and variously referred to as “money scripts” or “money personalities” etc., I help you understand your money story and plan for the next chapter.

WHAT IS YOUR MONEY STORY?

A Structured Workshop to understand your money story

Studies consistently find that a large majority of Americans say their financial situation is stressful. This can be true even for those who are “doing well.” Comparing our finances with others can lead to self-doubt, damaging competition or unhealthy spending. Most of us have difficulty asking for a raise, spending too much or too little money, fighting with our partners unnecessarily, and end up either avoiding or worshiping money. For most of us, our relationship with money and finances is a source of anxiety and uncertainty.

It doesn’t have to be that way.

The first step in changing money from a source of anxiety to a source of confidence is self-knowledge. We each have a unique approach to money that is largely determined by the experiences and messages we received as children and adolescents. Psychologists refer to these early attitudes and ideas as “money scripts” while others have described “money personalities” and “money mindsets.” Learning more about the roots of your relationship with money will help you understand any currently negative financial issues and foster more informed decisions about how you want to make, spend, save, invest and give money for the rest of your life.

I offer individuals, couples and groups a four-week program to help them better understand the foundation behind their personal “money story.” This program is personalized education and coaching about what drives your relationship with money. It incorporates structured exercises, discussion and reflection. It will include introspection, acceptance, and if you like, writing a new chapter in your money story.

Although we may touch on various financial skills this course is not about investment advice or financial planning. Although I can refer you to a financial professional if you would like. It is also not therapy. If you ask, I will let you know if I think you would benefit more from seeing a therapist.

If you know you are interested or would like to discuss this further, please don’t hesitate to contact me at Jeff@TurningPointDevelopment.com or 808-561-1330.
